About Docusate

Docusate Sodium Sennosides used to treat occasional constipation. Some medications and conditions can make constipation more likely. How to use

Follow all directions on the package unless otherwise directed by your doctor. If you are uncertain about any of the information on Docusate Sodium 100 mg softgel, consult your doctor or pharmacist.

  • Take Docusate Sodium Sennosides by mouth, usually at bedtime with a full glass of water or juice.
  • Docusate Sodium dose is based on your medical condition and response to therapy.
  • Decrease your dose or stop taking in pregnancy, if you develop diarrhea.
  • If you are using the liquid form of Docusate Sodium 100 mg softgel, measure the dose carefully using a special measuring device/spoon.
  • Do not use a household spoon because you may not get the correct dose.
  • If you are using drops, measure the medication with the dropper provided, or use a dose-measuring spoon or device to make sure you have the correct dose.
  • Mix the syrup, liquid, or drops in 4 to 8 ounces of fruit juice, milk, or infant formula to prevent throat irritation and mask a bitter taste.

Use only when needed. Do not use Docusate Sodium Sennosides for more than 1 week unless directed by your doctor.

Relief is usually seen in 1 to 3 days.

Inform your doctor if your condition persists or worsens.

If your doctor has directed you to use Docusate Sodium Sennosides, remember that he or she has judged that the benefit to you is greater than the risk of Docusate Sodium 100 mg softgel side effects. Many people using Docusate in pregnancy do not have serious side effects.

Tell your doctor right away if this unlikely but serious Docusate Sodium dose side effect occurs: rectal bleeding.

A very serious allergic reaction to Docusate Sodium Sennosides is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms of a serious allergic reaction of Docusate Sodium 100 mg softgel may include rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, trouble breathing.

Warnings & Precautions

  1. Before taking it, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to it.
  2. If you have any of the following health problems, consult your doctor or pharmacist before using Docusate Sodium Sennosides.
  3.  Docusate in pregnancy should be used only when clearly needed.

It is not known if Docusate in pregnancy passes into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breastfeeding.

Storage

Store at room temperature at 59-86 degrees F (15-30 degrees C) in a tightly-closed container away from light and moisture. Do not store in the bathroom. Keep all medicines away from children and pets.

Do not flush medications down the toilet or pour them into a drain unless instructed to do so. Consult your pharmacist or local waste disposal company for more details about how to safely discard your product.
